Terms of service

Last updated: 19 October 2026 · Version 1.0

The Italian text is the reference version; this English text is a courtesy translation.

These terms govern the use of Epicentro, the iPhone, Android and Apple Watch apps and the website epicentro.netlogiclab.it (the “Service”). By using the Service you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use it.

1. Who we are

The Service is provided by Netlogic Lab di Alessio Pellegrini, sole proprietorship, Via Mevati 1, 03046 San Donato Val di Comino (FR), Italy, VAT no. IT03194800607, email info@netlogiclab.it. REA number: [enter your REA number, if registered with the Business Register].

2. What Epicentro is, and what it is not

Epicentro shows earthquakes recorded by public seismological services in a clear way, with maps, charts, notifications and support tools for family and home.

Please read carefully:

  • Epicentro is an unofficial service. It is not a Civil Protection service, nor of INGV or any other authority, and is not connected to them.
  • It does not predict earthquakes. Aftershock probabilities, estimated intensities and simulators are generic statistical estimates: they may be wrong and do not mean an event will or will not happen.
  • Data comes from INGV, USGS, EMSC and other sources. It may be delayed, incomplete, preliminary or wrong, and notifications may arrive late or not at all (network, battery saving, phone settings, provider outages).
  • Epicentro does not replace emergency numbers or the instructions of the authorities. In an emergency call 112 and follow your municipality's civil protection plan.
  • Do not rely on this service for your safety or that of others.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 14 years old. If you are under 18, purchases must be made with the consent of the person responsible for you, through the family Apple or Google account. You use the Service for personal purposes; professional use is allowed, but the exclusions in section 2 still apply.

4. Account

You can use the basic features without an account. The account is needed for Plus. You can sign in with Apple, Google or with email and password (with a code sent by email). You must give true data and keep it up to date, protect your credentials and tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account, or on https://epicentro.netlogiclab.it/p/elimina-dati. Deleting does not cancel the subscription: cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.

5. Free and Plus plans

Free includes basic safety alerts and the main features at no cost. Plus is a paid subscription that adds features (for example aftershock probabilities, world events and history, unlimited zones, family and reports, extra widgets and notifications). The current list is on the Plus screen of the app.

  • 7-day free trial, where available for your account. When the trial ends, the subscription renews automatically at the price shown in the store, unless cancelled.
  • Price and period (monthly or yearly) are shown in the store, in your currency and with taxes, before purchase. Payment is made to Apple or Google, who collect it and handle invoices, renewals, cancellations and refunds under their rules. We never see or store your payment data.
  • How to cancel: App Store → Account → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancelling stops renewals; Plus stays active until expiry.
  • Right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from distance contracts. Plus is however digital content supplied immediately: by starting the purchase or trial you expressly ask for immediate supply and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully provided (Art. 59(1)(o) Italian Consumer Code; Directive 2011/83/EU). Your refund rights under Apple and Google rules and statutory rights, including the legal guarantee of conformity of digital content, remain.
  • Price changes. If we change the price, the store tells you before renewal and the new price applies only if you accept it or do not cancel.
  • Plus is tied to the account and checked with the store. If the subscription expires or is refunded, Plus is switched off.

6. Content you send

You can send “I felt it” reports with a free-text comment. You remain the owner of the content and give us a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to store it, process it statistically and in aggregate, and use it to improve the service. We will not show it to other users without further notice: today only the administrator sees comments.

It is forbidden to send content that is unlawful, offensive, infringes third-party rights or contains personal data of other people, advertising, spam or false information about seismic events. We may refuse or remove content, and suspend the account of anyone who abuses.

Reporting unlawful content. You can report content you believe is unlawful by writing to info@netlogiclab.it (contact point under Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the DSA): say where it is, why you think it is unlawful and your contact details. We assess it diligently and, if we remove content or restrict an account, we explain the reasons and how to challenge the decision.

7. Epicentro Network (optional)

The Network uses the phone's motion sensor to detect the first waves. It is experimental: it starts off and only works with your choice, which you can withdraw at any time. It only works when the phone is still and, if you choose, charging, at night and on Wi-Fi. On Android a permanent notification appears while the service is active; on iPhone the system may limit sensors in the background. The data processed is described in the Privacy policy (no audio, no photos). For now, signals do not generate automatic alerts: do not rely on the Network to be warned. If they do in future, we will update these terms and inform you.

8. Artificial intelligence

The assistant and event summaries are generated by artificial-intelligence systems (currently supplied by third parties, such as Anthropic and Google). We always tell you when a text is AI-generated. Answers may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date; they are not safety advice or predictions. Do not enter your own or other people's personal data into the assistant.

9. Intellectual property and third-party data

The app, its code, brand, graphics and texts are ours or our licensors': you may not copy, modify or resell them, circumvent their protections, or extract data systematically. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the app.

The Service uses third-party data and materials under their licences, including: INGV (CC BY 4.0), USGS (public domain), EMSC, OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL licence), OpenFreeMap / OpenMapTiles and the GEM Global Active Faults Database (CC BY-SA 4.0, Styron and Pagani). Sources are listed in the app, under Settings → Sources.

10. Availability, updates and changes

We do our best to keep the Service working, but we do not guarantee that it is always available, error-free or instant. We may update, change, suspend or discontinue features (for example for maintenance, changes by data providers or security). If we discontinue a paid feature, we will give reasonable notice and, for sums already paid and not used, a refund (as far as possible through the store) or an equivalent alternative. Consumers keep their statutory rights on the conformity of digital content and services (Legislative Decree 173/2021; Directive (EU) 2019/770).

11. Limits of liability

To the extent permitted by law:

  • the Service is provided “as is”: we are not liable for damage arising from delays, errors or absence of data or notifications, or from decisions you take on the information shown;
  • we are not liable for indirect damage or loss of profit, or for malfunctions due to your device, the network, third-party services (INGV, USGS, Apple, Google, etc.) or force majeure;
  • our total liability to you, for non-consumer users only, is limited to the price paid for Plus in the previous 12 months, except for wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that the law does not allow to be excluded: in particular for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our fault, and consumers' mandatory rights, including statutory guarantees.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or close an account, with notice where possible, if you breach these terms, for security or by legal obligation. If we close it through our fault or without good reason, we refund the unused part of the subscription, as far as possible through the store.

13. Privacy

Personal data processing is described in the Privacy policy: https://epicentro.netlogiclab.it/p/privacy.

14. Changes to the terms

We may change these terms for new features, or legal or technical reasons. Important changes are communicated at least 30 days in advance in the app or by email. If you disagree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account; continuing to use it after the change takes effect means acceptance.

15. Governing law, jurisdiction and disputes

These terms are governed by Italian law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live. If you are a consumer, any dispute is for the court of the place where you reside or are domiciled in Italy or the European Union, under Art. 66-bis of the Italian Consumer Code. For non-consumer users (for example businesses) the exclusive forum is the Court of Cassino (Italy).

Before going to court you can write to info@netlogiclab.it: we will reply within 30 days. As a consumer you can also turn to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body among those listed by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.

16. Apple and Google terms

The app is distributed through the App Store and Google Play. For Apple, the standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies: Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the Service, its maintenance or support, which are ours; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms as regards the App Store. Use through Google Play is subject to the Google Play terms. If these terms conflict with the store's on payment, refunds and the subscription, the store's rules prevail.

17. General provisions

If a clause is invalid or unenforceable, the others remain valid. If we do not enforce a right immediately, we do not waive it. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them on a transfer of the business, with notice to you. The reference text is in Italian: translations are for convenience.

18. Specific approval (for non-consumer users)

If you use the Service for professional purposes, you declare that you have read and specifically approve, under Articles 1341 and 1342 of the Italian Civil Code, clauses: 2 (nature of the Service and absence of warranties), 10 (availability and changes), 11 (limits of liability), 12 (suspension and termination), 14 (changes to the terms) and 15 (governing law and exclusive forum).
